Reader’s Choice: Top Supercomputing Achievement: (Tie) NASA/SGI ICE X, for scaling the Pleiades supercomputer to 70,000 cores on an ECCO/MITgcm ocean modeling simulation, with plans to reach 140,000 cores by the end of 2014.

Editors’ Choice: Best HPC Visualization Product or Technology: NASA hyperwall System: (NASA/SGI/NVIDIA) for providing an upgraded supercomputer-scale environment to visualize and explore the very large, high-dimensional datasets produced by NASA supercomputers and instruments.

Tom Tabor, CEO of Tabor Communications, Inc. and publisher of HPCwire presented the awards. Each year, HPCwire conducts an annual Readers’ Choice Awards to recognize the best and the brightest developments that happened in HPC over the previous 12 months.
