Computing power to answer NASA's complex science and engineering questions
As your codes scale up to make the best use of our HECC compute systems, so does the demand for larger, high-performance storage solutions. Our HECC storage systems engineers provide and maintain our large, high-speed "scratch" filesystems, as well as our exascale long-term archival mass storage system.
In addition to constantly working to improve performance, we can also help you optimize your data management for the best throughput, reducing the overall time you spend managing your files.
The following storage services are available at no extra charge to you.
To request help with these basic services, please contact the NAS Control Room: (800) 331-8737, (650) 604-4444, support@nas.nasa.gov.
Our storage experts also help other NASA centers and government organizations design and implement custom storage solutions. Such services may require external funding based on the required level of effort. Examples include:

Our storage experts worked with several users within the Space Launch System (SLS) project to provide the additional disk space needed to store the large datasets their jobs generated, and also showed them how to use an optimized file transfer program. These changes allowed the users to greatly simplify their data management to avoid the time-consuming shuffling of large partial datasets between their scratch disk and the archive system, enabling them to focus more on their work and less on managing data and monitoring file transfers.
